What parts of the MSME Act are the most important?

It significantly contributes to the country's economic and social development by promoting entrepreneurship and creating the largest employment opportunities at comparatively low capital costs, next only to agriculture.

MSMEs serve as auxiliary units to large factories, and the sector makes a major contribution to the country's inclusive industrial growth. MSMEs are expanding their domains into sectors of the economy, creating a diverse range of products and services to meet domestic demand in domestic and global markets.

MSME Ministry Mandate

On 9 May 2007, the Ministry of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture and the Ministry of Rural Industries were merged to form the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The Ministry promotes policies / programs / projects / schemes and monitors their implementation, to assist MSMEs and help them scale.

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act was enacted in 2006 to resolve a number of concerns, including those concerning MSMEs, as well as the region's coverage and investment cap. The MSMED Act aims to help these businesses expand while also improving their competitiveness.
