MSME Registration stands for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. If you own a manufacturing or service sector business in India, you can register it under Udyam Registration. It is the new and official process introduced by the government for registering MSMEs in India.

MSMEs are classified into 2 categories:

  • Manufacturing Enterprise
  • Service Enterprise

Classification of MSME Enterprises based on Turnover

Revised Definition

MSME Registration Certificate

MSME Registration Certificate is the official proof that a business is registered under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) category. It contains a unique identification number issued through the Udyam Registration Portal. This certificate confirms that the business is officially recognized as an MSME and is eligible for various government benefits and schemes.

Process to Apply for MSME Registration

  • Visit MSME Registration Portal
  • Fill out the form and enter the details as required in the application form.
  • Make the Payment for the process of the udyam application.
  • One of the representatives will process the application.
  • In 1-2 hours you will receive your MSME certificate.

  • Aadhaar Card
  • PAN Card and GSTIN
  • Business Address Proof
  • Business Activity Details
  • Bank Account Details

MSME Registration for Existing Enterprises

As per the government notification dated 26th June 2020, all existing MSMEs registered under MSME or Udyog Aadhaar must migrate to the new Udyam Registration system.

Each existing MSME will be considered valid under the new scheme only till 31st March 2021. To continue receiving MSME benefits, businesses were required to register or convert to Udyam Registration on or before 31st March 2021.

The Udyam Registration Certificate ensures that MSMEs can avail all the benefits and support provided by the government.
